And for the record, DD+ is HD audio. It's just not as great as it could be.
HD Audio is a rather subjective term IMO. DD is already 192/24khz, DD+ only adds additional channels and a higher bitrate, and truehd is completely lossless. But unlike higher resolution video, the average person isn't going to be able to hear the difference between regular lossy dd and lossless truehd, even if they did have a nice sound system, unless they were directly comparing the two side by side.

To me the term "hd audio" is completely meaningless. (Unless you start talking about "hd audio" sound cards, but the "hd audio" in that case refers more to its capabilities and driver standards rather than how it sounds.)

Thank Sony and crap like "FULL HD 1080P" for this ****. When there was just "HDTV" and the public wasn't worried about 1080eye, 1080pee, 720pee etc, adoption was faster.

Oh it gets even better when you start dealing with AVCHD and x.y. colors that Sony uses on their new lines of HD video cameras.

AVCHD on DVD was a brilliant idea.

Hey lets record video on mini-DVD that won't playback in any DVD player. I'm sure every customer will be happy about it.

I see you have gotten caught up in more Sony hype as usual. Bitrate isn't the be all end all. That's what CODECS ARE FOR. A 10Mbps VC-1 encode actually looks BETTER than a 30Mbps MGEG-2 encode.

BD also has "crappy lossy audio" on a lot of releases. I also bet you can't tell the difference.

Good thing we aren't using Mpeg-2 anymore.

Face it... you HD-DVD fanboys always said you had better PQ, it isn't true anymore, and you only have "features" which last I saw (using 300 as reference), didn't equal squat for sales compared to the BD version.
