Default Re: Clive Barker's Jericho Demo Feedback Thread

I just got through playing the demo. I love FPS games and horror games but I doubt I'll buy this game. Like others have said it's very consolized and I'm a pc game player. It looks okay but not great and you can see the textures were optimized for a console game. The way they used Field Of View effects didn't work for me. If I'm a short distance from a creature my view wouldn't be blurry like they did it in the game. To me the effects weren't used very well.

The place where you go in the hole was totally stupid. I don't want to play a game that has tight timing on pressing keys they flash on the screen or you die over and over. Plus I had to press both the motion keys and the arrow keys at the same time or it wouldn't work, is that the way it's suppose to be? I'll put what I'm talking about below.

I had to press both keys at the same time
Game Shows Up Arrow (Press up arrow and forward motion key)
Game Shows Dn Arrow (Press dn arrow and backward motion key)
Game Shows Lt Arrow (Press lt arrow and left motion key)
Game Shows Rt Arrow (Press rt arrow and right motion key)

To me this is just another example of pc games turning into console games, and I hate that because that seems to be mostly what we get now days.

Demo was good, is there anyway to turn down the Bloom, reducing it by at least half would make it look pretty good I think. At this stage its far too much

Do you guys think that the dance revolution sequence should have just been a cutscene? ie no button presses? Maybe an different technique? Part of the reason they have the mashing is so when you miss and get to see yourself die in some cool way, so there should be some skill type deal to keep yourself alive? I didn't really hate it, but how could you improve it?

For me I had to push only the motion key (WASD), and not the arrows. Are you sure didn't work only with the motion keys?

I tried it out last night too. I did not notice any problems with the mouse feel while playing. It was about right for me.

Also, I really liked the fact that ALL keys can be customized and not limited like most console ports (i.e. Halo 2).

Gameplay looks like it will be a challenge with the various characters and abilities to master.

Overall it looks like a nice game. The demo area reminded me heavily of Dark Messiah though.

Anyone else groan out loud at he introductory video? It was SOOO cheesy! Gameplay wise, I have to say I'm a little dissapointed as the game didn't seem to have anywhere near the same atmosphere as Undying and just didn't pulled me into the game like it did. Graphics look OK, not a big fan of the HDRI blur (hopefully this effect joins lensflares in the overused CG special effects cemetary!) but the run smoothly even with 4xAA 16AF on my single 8800GTX at 1920 x 1200.

Actually, though it may sound cheesy, it was very helpful in explaining the storyline and more specifically the demo and the character abilities. I'll take it.

Also, you can turn off the blur. I did.

I just got around to playing the demo and I must say, I liked it. I didn't expect it to be really scary since you play a military type squad (In undying you were alone and under powered). The gameplay is generic but the key sequence really broke it up and added something to the generic fps genre. I thought it was well done in this game, and looked really good.
