7300GS, 100.14.19 with kernel 126.96.36.199 produces hardlocks
I have a 7300GS in a motherboard that has an MCP55 chipset. I have been receiving some Xid errors and getting some hardlocks since upgrading to driver 100.14.19. I have disabled composite, as well, other things like HW Cursor and AddARGBGLXVisuals, and the hard locks and errors seem to have disappeared.
I had been using 9755 for some time now to get composite working because of some instability issues I have had with the 100.14.xx series, but with the recent release of xorg-server 1.4, I can no longer use that older driver. The workaround is obviously to leave those options off, or not upgrade xorg-server, but since the goal is to actually get those things working in a stable fashion, I thought a bug report was in order.
I am running Arch Linux Testing branch, with kernel 188.8.131.52 and xorg-server 1.4.
Since the system hardlocks (not even ssh login is possible), I cannot run the nvidia-bug-report.sh after the problem, so I just ran it from the console with X running.
I note that some people around the net have posted that lockups like these with 100.14.19 only occur on 64-bit systems. It should be noted that although I have a 64-bit cpu, I am running in 32-bit mode, so that observation may not be true.
