Default GeforceFX 5800/5900 Length?

Hey,

Right now I'm running a Geforce Ti4400 and I'm thinking of upgrading to one of the new cards that are available... probably an NV35 or R350 variation of some sort.

One question I have though is the length of the GeforceFX cards. While I know that the GeforceFX 5900 Ultra performs better than the Radeon 9800 Pro, I also know the Radeon is shorter than the FX and would fit in my case better.

My Ti4400 already presses against one of my hard drives... if the new FX cards are even SLIGHTLY larger than my Ti4400, they won't fit

Anyone know how long these cards are? Thanks!

Talking What? Size DOES matter?

I always thougth performance & satisfaction were more important, but I reckon it's a good thing for bragging rights....

My 5900 Ultra reference board is 24 cm. Voodoo, you may want to measure more carefully?

The NV35 is a VERY LONG reference card. I have to slide out the motherboard tray 2 cm to use it in my particular case. This was not a problem with the 5800 Ultra.

I got the 22 CM from a review. There are also two different lengths of 5900 Ultra's being reviewed. Some have the really long card and some have the shorter version. That is why I said Approx 22 cm.

In fact, here is a review that says it is 21 CM. http://www.hexus.net/review.php?review=554&page=4

So I guess alot of people have trouble measuring.

The retail 5900 cards will be about the same size as the 5800.

I think the FX is a great card, but I wish that nVidia could figure out how to make it just a little shorter... even a 1/4 of an inch or so would make it better.

My Ti4400 is slightly curved because it's pressed up against my hard drives... if the 5900 is even a sliver longer than my Ti4400, I'll have to go with ATi.

The card WILL be shorter. This is straight from an Nvidia Rep at their E3 booth. They are going to shrink the capasitors at the end of the card, thus reducing length. Also, I asked if the revised board would use the same power connector (I prefered the 5800's horizontal connector rather than the 5900 Reference Verticle one) and he said he was unsure if that would be changed on the shipping board.

PS. I'll have more for you guys tonight. I'm gonna ask some more questions today, including the "Cheating on 3Dmark" one.
